This new machine produces a batt that is wider, thicker and longer, than our standard machines. Suitable for spinners who like a thick batt, and wonderful for felters, with its 10" x 30" size, and double thickness.

The larger the drum diameter, the greater the arc of contact = a more thourough carding action.

There are ball bearings on both drums, for smooth easy turning. Can be used anywhere on the table - no clamps required.

A dual-purpose burnishing tool is supplied, which can be used conventionally by hand, or slipped into the rear storage slot to lightly burnish the main drum while you are building the batt. Also included: doffer stick, batt lifter and cleaning brush. Frame is colorful western red cedar.

The bare machine weighs only 20 pounds. Notice the longer main drum teeth that produce the very thick batt.

BATT REMOVAL

Admire the luxury, quality and pure color elegance of this thick batt being removed by Deb Menz from her Big Batt Carder (which she has nicknamed the Phat Batt Maker.)

ROVINGS

Color specialist Deb Menz drew these lovely balls of variegated ribbons of color directly from her "Big Batt" swift. Note the distinct color delineation. The larger and thicker batt is perfect to create multiple color roving. Due to the smooth ball bearing action of the drum, it is easy to draw off a consistent roving with a diz or Rove Guide.
