ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE TRIPLE PICKER.
This is a continuous process machine
which passes the wool from the front to the rear, where it can drop into a
box or container. You can expect to pick 6 to 10 pounds an hour with
relatively little effort. The picker will tease
and blend your wool prior to carding, giving you a greatly improved batt
when carded. We suggest you try spinning the fibers directly from
the picked condition to create a more interesting and irregular texture.
Dyed shades put together through the picker can be spun into fascinating
variegated yarn. Although you may use it to pick wool in the grease, you
will find the tiny seeds and vegetation will fall out more easily from
clean, washed wool. While some small debris may fall out during picking,
grass and hay and burrs will not. The picker's purpose is to open
the wool to prepare it for carding, or for spinning direct from the picked
condition.
The Triple Picker's 600 ultra smooth and polished points
are perfect for exotic and fine fibers. Especially impressive
on kid mohair and adult mohair, picking it into a fluffy cloud suitable
for spinning directly from the picker. Also excellent for blending
dyed colors and exotic fibers with wool. Great for long wools such a
Romney and Border Liecester. The Triple Picker is nicely finished in a beautiful maple. Remember 600 picking points, don't settle for imitation pickers with fewer points.
SAFETY:
Our points are ground, polished and hardened to maintain their sharpness.
Do treat these points with respect, and please don't ask us to sell our
picker to you unless you are a responsible individual who will ensure its
safe use and locked storage.
Due to the nature of the picker, we have
added a positive lock on the swinging cradle- not only to allow the
machine to be carried in safety, but also to be padlocked to protect
children or unauthorized people from playing with it and doing themselves an
injury. It must be treated with great caution. We supply a
small padlock to lock the machine when it is not in use. It is your
responsibility to NOT use the machine when children are around, and to prevent others from becoming injured. Treat it with the same respect
you give a power lawnmower or a sharp knife. We cannot accept any
responsibility for any damage or injury attributed to the wool picker.
For Safety, we recommend close-fitting leather
leather gloves and our Picker Claw.
